Connectivity

Run fully offline. Stay fully connected.

Powered by the eatOS peer-to-peer mesh network and cloud sync technology.

Always in sync

Every device talks directly to every other device in the venue. Orders, payments, and kitchen updates move instantly across the floor, no configuration required.

One device is all it takes

Only one device needs internet for the whole venue to sync to the cloud. If your connection drops, the rest of the network keeps running without interruption.

Syncs the moment you are back online

The second any device regains internet access, all data from every device syncs instantly to the eatOS cloud. Nothing is lost.

What keeps working offline

  • Orders keep moving from device to device over the mesh.
  • Kitchen updates keep moving, so the kitchen display stays in the same sync as the rest of the floor.
  • Kiosk and handheld devices on the same mesh stay in that sync. No manual pairing.
  • Payments move with the other device updates on the local network.

TODO: How card payments are handled offline (store-and-forward, limits, and who carries decline risk) is not verified. The offline page says payments move between devices. It does not publish authorization rules, a time limit, or decline risk.

What happens on reconnect

The second any device regains internet access, all data from every device syncs instantly to the eatOS cloud. Nothing is lost.

4G backup

eatOS lists 4G backup and hotspot capability on the comparison pages. The offline page does not say 4G backup is required: only one device needs internet for the whole venue to sync to the cloud.

TODO: How 4G backup is provisioned or priced is not published. Do not treat it as included, optional, or billed until that is confirmed.

Toast offline mode

Toast says offline mode keeps orders, tickets and card payments going until reconnect. Toast pricing page, last checked October 12, 2026.

Instant Cloud Sync

The moment any device gains internet access, all data from every device syncs to eatOS cloud.

Questions

Does eatOS work without internet?

Yes. eatOS is 100% offline capable. Devices sync over Bluetooth, peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, and LAN at the same time, in under a second, with no single point of failure and no manual pairing.

What happens to orders when Wi-Fi drops?

Orders keep moving across the peer-to-peer mesh. Devices sync over Bluetooth, peer-to-peer Wi-Fi, and LAN at the same time, so a dropped internet connection does not stop device-to-device sync.

Do all devices need internet?

No. Only one device needs internet for the whole venue to sync to the cloud. If that connection drops, the rest of the network keeps running.

Will I lose data?

No. Nothing is lost. The moment any device regains internet access, all data from every device syncs instantly to the eatOS cloud.

Does the kitchen display keep working?

Kitchen updates move between devices on the mesh with or without the internet, in the same device-to-device sync as the rest of the venue.

Do I need 4G backup?

The offline page does not say 4G backup is required. Only one device needs internet for the venue to sync to the cloud. eatOS lists 4G backup and hotspot capability on the comparison pages. How that backup is provisioned or priced is not published.
