Beyond Borders: How Migration Transforms Our Tables (World of Flavors 2024)

The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) has announced the theme for its highly anticipated Worlds of Flavor 2024 conference: "Borders, Migration, and the Evolution of Culinary Tradition." Taking place November 6-8, 2024, at the CIA's Copia campus in Napa Valley, the event will delve into how shifting demographics, cultural exchange, and global movements have shaped – and continue to shape – the culinary landscape.

A distinguished lineup of chefs, food experts, and thought leaders from around the world will share their insights on topics such as:

  • The impact of migration on culinary fusion and innovation: How have culinary traditions evolved as people move across borders and cultures blend?

  • Exploring the roots of global cuisines: What are the historical and cultural forces that have shaped the flavors and ingredients we enjoy today?

  • The role of food in cultural identity and storytelling: How does food preserve cultural heritage and connect us to our roots?

  • Culinary trends emerging from diverse communities: What new and exciting flavors are gaining popularity as a result of cultural exchange?

"This year's theme is particularly relevant as we witness unprecedented global migration and a growing interest in culinary diversity," said a CIA spokesperson. "Worlds of Flavor 2024 will provide a platform for exploring the complex and fascinating ways that food connects us all."

The conference will feature a variety of presentations, panel discussions, cooking demonstrations, and tastings. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with industry professionals, learn about cutting-edge culinary trends, and gain a deeper understanding of the cultural significance of food.
